Co-operatives UK is an organisation representing different forms of co-operative business in the UK. Co-operatives represent an alternative way of organsing firms, posing a direct challenge to the classical understanding of firms as capital employing labour, and potentially highlighting alternative ways of organsing production and exchange. The co-operative movement reflects a form of resistance to existing economic arrangements, attempting to embed market relations in social relationships between members. This video explains what a co-operative is, discussing the different types, their history and purposes, before moving on to discuss the current state of the co-operative movement. The video concludes with a Q&A session.
Whilst Co-ops UK obviously has a positive perspective on co-operatives, the webinar presents a thorough but introductory grounding in the basics of co-ops.
