The main goal of this website is to provide freely accessible resources on heterodox economics and examples of how it can be applied in Uganda’s context—and by extension, sub-Saharan Africa and the global South in general. The Blog section includes summarized documentation, with videos and articles, of our collaborative work in Uganda and beyond. Moreover, the Resources section links to other heterodox resource sites such as Exploring Economics, People's Economy, and Rethinking Economics.

Comment from our editors:

The website provides an easy-to-read and structured resource site, including a summary of Open Economics Uganda's activities since its founding in 2015 at Makerere University. The Home page includes the organization's mission with affiliate local groups at Makerere University, Uganda Christian University, and Makerere University Business School established in Kampala, Uganda. In addition, this page also showcases pictures from our latest events starting from February 2025 and features some of the student-volunteers, attendees, panelists, lecturers, and other guest speakers who have contributed to our previous engagements.
