The dossier highlights the detrimental effects of global sugar production and consumption in capitalist economies. Global trade regulations as well as intercountry inequalities are explored on the production site, whereas poor health and the role of companies marketing products with huge amounts of industrial sugar (like Coca Cola) form part of the analysis of the consumption site. In the conclusion these observations are connected with the logics of a distinctive form of global capitalism and alternatives are sketched out.
