This is an online panel and discussion on the ongoing and potential gendered impacts of COVID-19 organized by the International Association of Feminist Economics (IAFFE). The panel explores in detail a wide variety of the impacts of COVID-19 on gender equality. Key topics covered are the women over-representation in paid/unpaid care workforce colluding with COVID-19 effects on rising unemployment and reducing income, along with rising unpaid work within households; the need of data on Time Use; crises and reproductive economy; the effects of social distancing in provision of food and the limits of the capacity to care in developing countries.

Comment from our editors:

This is a multi-faceted overview of key issues in the current COVID-19 crisis. The gender repercussions of the pandemic are analysed by prominent scholars on feminist economics. A clear idea of what the COVID-19 effect on gender equality would be and lines for future research are provided, along with a great discussion at the end of the panel.
