This paper is based on a discussion between Prof. Eckhard Hein, Gennaro Zezza, and Steven Fazzari during a Forum for Macroeconomics and Macroeconomic Policy (FMM) held in Berlin. It offers an in-depth elaboration of Steven Fazzari's journey in academia within the context of the United States of America. Finally, the interview includes an interesting anecdote on how an unlikely meeting between Hyman Minsky and Fazzari reflects a turning point in his academic journey, especially his pedagogical view on financial crises, heterodox economics, and the global economy. Fazzari also gives vital tips and candid advice for young scholars who are still figuring out their own research interests, for instance PhD theses and trying to find their voice amidst the current global polycrisis.
