Is our system capable of energy transition and climate protection? How plural is economic policy in practice and who makes the big decisions? What kind of change do we want?

Prof. Dr. Claudia Kemfert is an energy economist, advisor to the Federal Ministry for the Environment and Head of the Energy, Transport and Environment Department at the German Institute for Economic Research. She is also a spokesperson for Scientists for Future. In this lecture, she talks about her career and her studies in Energy and Climate Economics. She shares a personal experience with us and tells us why more female economists are needed in Economics. She also introduces her work on Economy-Climate-Biosphere (ECOBICE) an assessment model combining economic, climate, and biosphere models.

We love the way Claudia Kemfert uses our infographic in different parts of her lecture. You can find the graphic in our Orientation section where you can compare different economic perspectives
