Die marxistische Ökonomie stellt eine Wirtschaftstheorie dar, die im Wesentlichen auf Karl Marx Hauptwerk „Das Kapital“ beruht. Aufbauend auf den Ansätzen der klassischen Nationalökonomie werden hierbei die kapitalistischen Produktionsweisen sowie der Grundwiderspruch zwischen Kapital und Arbeit analysiert und kritisiert (vgl. Kirchgässner 1988, S. 128). Ausgehend von der marxistischen Kapitalismuskritik werden insbesondere das Wesen der kapitalistischen Ausbeutung und der Klassenkonflikt zwischen Bourgeoisie und Proletariat behandelt (vgl. By conducting a discourse analysis (SKAD) in the field of academic economics textbooks, this paper aims at reconstructing frames and identity options offered to undergraduate students relating to the questions ‘Why study economics?’ and ‘Who do I become by studying economics?’. The analysis showed three major frames and respective identity offerings, all of which are contextualized theoretically, with prominent reference to the Foucauldian reflection of the science of Political Economy. Surprisingly, none of them encourages the student to think critically, as could have been expected in a pedagogical context. Taken together, economics textbooks appear as a “total structure of actions brought to bear upon possible action” (Foucault), therefore, as a genuine example of Foucauldian power structures.

Jede Finanzkrise ist in erster Linie eine Schuldenkrise. Schuldner_innen nehmen zu viele Kredite auf, die sie dann nicht mehr bedienen können. Gläubiger_innen – vor allem Banken – müssen in der Folge ihre Forderungen abschreiben und vergeben weniger Kredite. Die Finanzkrise ist da.
Um eine solche Finanzkrise wirklich zu verstehen, muss man aber erst begreifen, wie Kredite eigentlich entstehen und wie genau Banken und andere Finanzinstitutionen funktionieren. Aufgabe einführender Bücher in die Volkswirtschaftslehre sollte sein, diese fundamentalen Zusammenhänge darzustellen. Leider stellen diese Bücher das Finanzsystem und die Kreditschöpfung meist falsch dar. Das erschwert sowohl die Analyse einer Finanzkrise als auch Wege zu ihrer Lösung zu finden.
Wie der Kredit wirklich in die Welt kommt
Fragen über den Zweck, die Struktur und den Inhalt des wirtschaftswissenschaftlichen Curriculums sie sind so alt wie die Disziplin selbst. Ein prominentes deutsches Beispiel ist der vor mehr als 100 Jahren ausgefochtene Werturteilsfreiheitsstreit. Das öffentliche kritische Interesse an den Wirtschaftswissenschaften korreliert mit den Krisen des Systems. Aus dieser Warte gesehen ist es nicht verwunderlich, dass sich nach der großen Finanzkrise in den Nuller Jahren dieses Jahrhunderts vermehrt kritische Stimmen zu Wort melden.

One of the pluralist theories which has gained prominence following the 2008 financial crisis is Hyman Minsky and his Financial Instability Hypothesis (FIH). Minsky was unique in viewing balance sheets and financial flows as the primary components of capitalist economies, and his focus on the financial system meant he was well-equipped for foresee a crisis much like 2008. Although he died long before 2008 his framework anticipated many of the processes which led to the crash, particularly increased risk-taking and financial innovation which would outstrip the abilities of regulators and central banks to manage the system.

Aim of this intensive workshop is to understand macroeconomic workings of climate change as as the background of sustainable finance; to analyse financial assets with ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) criteria attached to them and their markets and important institutional players; to develop a critical perspective on the current setup of sustainable finance; and to synthesise this knowledge by applying it on in-depth case studies.

The article pursues the two related questions of how economists pretend to know and why they want to know at all. It is argued that both the economic form of knowledge and the motivation of knowing have undergone a fundamental change during the course of the 20th century. The knowledge of important contemporary economic textbooks has little in common with an objective, decidedly scientifically motivated knowledge. Rather, their contents and forms follow a productive end, aiming at the subjectivity of their readers.

Die Institutionelle Ökonomie zeigt Erklärungsansätze für wirtschaftliche Prozesse auf und betont, dass diese nicht ausschließlich durch „individuelles Rationalverhalten“ geprägt werden. Die Notwendigkeit von Institutionen wird betont, da ein individuelles, rationales Verhalten zu einer negativen Beeinflussung der Gemeinschaft führen kann und somit die Lösung über Institutionen erfolgen muss.
